Nami Sashiko Sampler

This stunning sampler showcases twelve individual sashiko blocks of wave designs. You can make all twelve or just a few if you want a smaller project. The stitches are hand worked with cotton thread on an indigo background. Each block is framed and then sashed with cornerstones. The inset shows one block only to illustrate the details. This class will fill up fast, so be sure to sign up soon! Registration is open. Class cost is $30.

This is a simple pattern with classic good looks! It also offers an opportunity to feature a focus fabric in the center. You can do a horizontal or vertical layout. This project will be completed in one day! We will discuss color, contrast, construction and machine quilting. I encourage you to attend, especially if you are a beginning quilter. Registration is open. Class cost is $30.

- May 19, 2008: HQG Board meeting, 5:30 p.m., followed by General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. (library opens at 6:00 p.m.). Watch out for all those little green men as our UFO’s come in for a landing at this month’s program! The cosmos will never be the same as we finish a project started once upon a time. Reminder: Nominations for the 2008 – 2009 Executive Board are due at the May meeting with elections to follow! Please volunteer your time and talent as a board member!
- June 8, 2008: Nami Sashiko Sampler Class (see above for details)
- June 23, 2008: Annual HQG Installation Pot Luck. Details to be provided next month. Reminder: Guild memberships end at the end of June. Please renew promptly! Also, Secret Pals will commence on July 1, so mail your application before June 23, or give it to Mary Forde at the potluck!
- July 28, 2008: HQG Board meeting, 5:30 p.m., followed by General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. (library opens at 6:00 p.m.). Program is Quilts of Japan. Prepare to be inspired as we view quilts from the land of Samurai, Emperors, Geisha, and the Rising Sun. Quilts from Japanese quilt shows will amaze, impress, and inspire.
- August 25, 2008: HQG Board meeting, 5:30 p.m., followed by General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. (library opens at 6:00 p.m.). Program is Batiks from Malaysia. Join us as our own Charlotte Szarmes reveals the history and techniques involved in this cultural art form.
